I welcome feedback and comments about my book. Here are some for you to review:
"There are lessons and wisdom in this book that apply to all children, not just sons and not just people of color. If you have a child in this day and age, this book is a resource you should read and keep on your nightstand. The best thing about it is its relatability, and that it's not preachy. One of my favorite parts of the book are the contracts that start on page 216. It's a concept so simple, yet totally brilliant. My 12-year-old son understood and appreciated both the content and the commitment involved in the contract. It's clever in that it lets my child know what I expect from him yet it's not patronizing. Page 124 contains one of the universal truths every mom should know: "An early reader is a strong reader." There's not a single wasted word in Ms. Bolds' first book, and as the mother of three daughters, I would be very interested if she were to follow up her excellent first effort with a book on how to raise Black daughters."
Crystal Hubbard - Children's Book Author: "The Last Black King of the Kentucky Derby."
"Writing and publishing a book is a feat of which you should be proud - you should, however, be even more proud to have raised a well-adjusted, intelligent son who is now matriculating in an institution of higher learning. Both of you are disproving the statistics. Your book is an insightful & useful tool for single mothers raising their sons."

Raising Princes to be Kings: A single Black Mother’s Guide to Raising Her Black Son.
Denise Bolds, M.S.W

"This book is the truth. It is straight up honesty that women need to hear. Everything from how to take care of yourself before your son is born to keeping your home safe and how to conduct yourself like an adult. I really found the advice about school testing very helpful. She discusses everything from being your son’s advocate and cheerleader to keeping him alive in today’s society.
I loved the advice and counsel she gives freely. “I censor what my son watches on TV no rap music or videos and no violent video games.” She goes into why she censors what her son is exposed to. I loved the contracts between mother and son. I’m simply hoping that her next book will be for mothers on how to raise their daughters to be queens!
Please get this book and use it as a reference if you have a son. We need to raise our Sons!
